Hi there, and welcome to a NEW challenge here at Can You Digi It? But before we get there, how about we give random.org a work out and choose some winners from the 91 adorable creations??? I’m sure glad we don’t “judge” these cards, and just let random.org pick, because they were TOO CUTE this time!
You see what I mean?! And there were 88 MORE just like that!!!
Ok, so let’s see what you can do with today’s challenge:
Pantone has chosen emerald as the color of the year, and I am beside myself! The only thing better would’ve been turquoise, but it’s still a green! There are SO many angles you can take with this challenge – just look at how different the inspiration photos are, and just wait until you see what the design team did with it…
Mynnette used LilyPink Designs’ Topiary set for that special someone…
Mary Ellen went completely outside her comfort zone for some 3D altered art project using LilyPink Designs’ Bee Happy:
It looks great, doesn’t it???
Not to be outdone, Nathalia also used LilyPink Designs’ Bee Happy for a completely different look:
Denise went over the top with this fabulous page using Delightfully Distressing Designs’ Shabby Melody kit:
Kathy got down to the basics of being green with Dana’s Digital Cafe Froggie:
Lelia chose the most difficult card of them all and hit it out of the park using Feathered Friend by A Creative Need:
And last, but certainly not least, Brook is planning ahead for Father’s Day with this fabulous masculine card using AnnieJDesigns’ Duck Silhouettes:
How will green speak to you????
Here’s a little inspirational video to get playing with those FUN gelatos…
Welcome to a snowy Friday here in Chicagoland!!! I love to watch the snow fall as long as I don’t need to go outside in it, unless it’s to make a snowman. In case you missed it, I have posted my CHA Recap in a 2-part series: Part 1 here and Part 2 here. There are lots of pictures and even a few videos. For even MORE CHA goodness, check out Crash Test Dummies’ CHA Recap Roll-Up with info from all over the web!
Good morning, everyone! Lelia here again with your challenge reminder. You’ve got a whole week left to join in on the fun…our current challenge is called Getting Girly. Take a peek at the inspiration board I came up with for you for a little inspiration. Pink, shoes, nails, sparkles, pearls, flowers cosmetics, jewelry…anything girly goes!!!
For my creation I am using Lovely Girl by Betty Edwards and Embellie Gellie (I love this stuff). She’s been colored with Copics and cut out. I made the flower for her hair using some coordinating paper and a pearl to get really girly. I hope you enjoy it!
Thanks so much for stopping by today…we truly appreciate it! MWAH!
Did you have fun taking the trip with on Part 1 of my CHA Recap? Well, hold on to your hats because Part 2 is yam-packed with even more fun! There are LOTS more pictures, and even video or two… So, let’s go!
Before we get to the new stuff, yesterday I promised you the Charity Wings flash mob video, so after 2.5 hours of uploading on You Tube, here it is…
Since I live on Central time, I was up at 4:45 Pacific. For those of you keeping score a home, that meant 75 minutes until the hotel Starbucks opened! Oh no, I was NOT waiting that long, so I pulled up my hand dandy Starbucks app (on my iPad mini, of course!) and found there was one just a mile away. That seemed like a good idea, except it was…
I had my coat, hat, and gloves, so it wasn’t too bad. I even broke a little sweat getting there and took it easy coming back, taking in the morning activity. Needless to say, I’m going to have quite a few steps on today’s count! But, I was back at the hotel just as the hotel Starbucks was opening. I’m calling that a win!
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Gandy was none too happy that Momma was gone…
But I couldn’t dwell on that sad face too long, as today began with a party! I’m calling it a belated birthday party for me (Bday was 1/6) hosted by Scotch Tapes, where we got to play with some of their prototype washi tapes and FUN patterned mask tape. The fun Alton DuLaney was our guide, and it was a blast! What a way to start the day!!!
After the party was over, it was time to get down to business…
Ok, maybe not… I seriously want to know how I missed an ELEPHANT on day 1 of the trade show!! This thing was HUGE, and that platform rotated around. It was sponsored by CraftAttitude, who has all kinds of FUN things to print your photos or digi papers or whatever you spit out of your printer on!
Gandy and Latte were looking for the elephant that Daddy told them Momma was bringing…
From the elephant, it was off to see the amazing Heidi Swapp. I am IN LOVE with her NEW Color Pop resist line. The banners (shown below) are my FAVORITE, and they will be part of the April mixed media hybrid kit that will be coming to the store. They are scheduled to be available in mid-March, so here’s hoping! You will be able to purchase the whole set in the store, as well, as soon as they are ready. I’m seriously stalking these things!
After I had to drag myself away from the Heidi Swapp goodies, I was back to Faber-Castell to play some more with the FUN NEW gelatos. There are 2 new sets, and for those of you familiar with gelatos today, you’ll notice they are packaged differently. In today’s kits, they come with a brush and stamp, whereas the new kits will feature two new tools to help you use the gelatos in different ways. These tools are SO new that they didn’t have any at the show that I could play with, so I am not-so-patiently awaiting their arrival to play with the tools. They are likely to be available around the middle of next month. This set is called Tropical.
The other set has the BEST name – it’s called 50′s Diner:
There is also a brand new tool kit that I am dying to get my grubby little paws on:
Here are the new colors in combos (that you may see in the near future…) on NEW Silhouette Chipboard (coming soon!) with just a touch of Gesso first.
Speaking of what’s new at Silhouette, there are several new items that just didn’t photograph all that well, since they are really bases to other things. I have linked the Silhouette blog posts for these items to show you some, but once they arrive, we’ll get a much better description and all out there… Chipboard, Clear Sticker Paper, new rhinestone combo packs, as well as new template material that will help the rhinestones go into place much easier!
After I was done playing (for now) with the adult crayons, I moved on to the FabScraps booth, but look what I found on the way…
I was in total shock at this amazing creation on such a large scale that I completely forgot what booth had this. I am in awe of this type of work to be done on the fly on such a HUGE canvas, and in front of everyone, too boot! WOW! After I don’t know how long of staring, I finally made to the fabulous FabScraps (I’m convinced that FabScraps is short for fabulous scraps!). There were a few things that touched my fancy there…
Um, yes please to the Hot Air Balloon chipboard! This is available now in the store and will be featured in the April mixed media hybrid kit with the Heidi Swapp goodies above.
How perfect are these Camera & Binoculars chipboard pieces for us crafty gawkers?! This set is also available now, and the camera will be a part of the March mixed media hybrid kit. The binos will appear in the May or June kit, depending on how the mood strikes me. Because I had to have it, I also got the Bon Voyage chipboard piece:
FabScraps ALSO has some paints, shimmer, & embossing powders coming out any day now, so be on the lookout for those… yes, the reading glasses camera again failed to capture the image of fabulous artists at work with them!
I finished the day with a life-size mod podge. If you can see the woman in the background, that look is a mirror of what my face looked like when I saw it, I’m sure. Um, ok!
I told you there would be LOTS of steps today!
And now we move on to the next day in our series… Today started at BoBunny! You really don’t get much happier a name than BoBunny, do you???
Do you see what I found?! Oh yes, you see those coffee stain circles?!?!?! YES!!! This set is called Stained Textures and will be available the end of this month, so you don’t have to wait long for this one!
I found something for us snap-happy folks, too! I did notice the reading glasses camera was not included… oh, some day, I’m tellin’ ya!!!
After BoBunny, I somehow found myself at the Prima booth again… *rolling my eyes*
These fun little pieces will be making their way into the store as a whole and on a mixed media hybrid kit later on in the year. These, along with the camera ones I showed yesterday, will be available around the middle to end of next month. Lookie what else I found at Prima…
Those are black crystal chevrons!!! They come as a set of 3 and are FABULOUS!!! They might be showing up in a mixed media hybrid kit very soon… They will be available the same time as the wood pieces above.
After I left Prima (again), I again found my way to Canvas Corp, where I had a gander at these FUN new denim triangles.
And their white friends…
I wonder how many colors those are going to end up in their lives… I also found a cute little canvas album…
Today was a relatively light day, according to my Fitbit, but don’t worry, Fitbit, tomorrow is the end of the show, so you’ll get your work out!
And now we begin the FINAL day of the show. It comes with mixed emotions – you’re glad it’s over because you’ve literally walked miles, but sad because it’s so FUN. There are people I only get to see at the CHA Show, so it’s sad to say good-bye. I take the last day to look at everything just to make sure I didn’t miss anything. And good thing I did because I sure would’ve missed these FABULOUS things…
OH MY is this thing AWESOME!!! Check out the video that Scrap Time did for it…
I would have KICKED myself if I would’ve missed this thing!!!!
Wandering back to 7Gypsies, I found this fun subway art stamp…
I walked by this fabulous dress by Bella Blvd easily 30 times and finally remembered to take a photo of it!
I found this FUN shop that has vintage watch parts AND sealing wax… I had to get a little bit of each to try. I need to find the catalog to know the name of it, but I will SO be ordering MORE from there! Perhaps, for a mixed media hybrid kit…
Next I happened upon FEATHERS!!!! Oh yes, these WILL be showing up in a mixed media hybrid kit!!!
From there, I found a shop with TONS of tags of all shapes, sizes, and even vintage-type printed ones. I am working on putting together my order from this shop TONIGHT! So many FUN tags to be used in a variety of ways… oh the possibilities!
Every show, I have multiple escapades of the game – Can the Silhouette cut that? And that team is SO fabulous – they are as excited as me to see if it will cut. I’m happy to say the only thing I have found that won’t cut is felt. Everything else I’ve thrown in the machine cuts beautifully (on both the Cameo & Portrait), and these Washi Sheets from We R Memory Keepers are no exception. Yes, you heard me – WASHI SHEETS!
Speaking of cutting… the eBosser from Craftwell is NOW READY to ship!!! It was debuted at the last CHA, but they have made improvements to it and added more Embossing Folders to the line, as well. Mine is in the mail, so there will be LOTS more to come about this FUN new toy! My husband is ok with it because it plugs into a wall…
Here’s a video on it, by Craftwell:
And then it was all over, so what do you do when the fun is over? You celebrate with a quesadilla and a craftini!
I was sitting here with my lunch (at 2:30PM) still reviewing catalogs, of course…
Then, for dinner, I had what the Marriott called Chocolate Rain. Oh, let it rain, baby!!! LET IT RAIN!!!! This is adult chocolate milk, and I’m sure glad I waited until the last day to have this bad boy, otherwise, my bill would’ve been something astronomical… YUMMY!!!!
And my last Fitbit check of the week:
When I went through security at John Wayne Airport, I’m betting my 3-1-1 looked slightly different than most folks’ 3-1-1…
And, finally, back home with a fabulous puppy welcome. Nothing beats a dog’s welcome home, that’s for sure!!! Gandy even put on a show for me…
I hope you have enjoyed your walk through CHA with me. Be on the lookout for more information on this fun NEW stuff as it comes in. Sorry for the long post, but I couldn’t find any pictures to cut out… You know how that goes…
I think I have FINALLY caught up on sleep from my FUN trip to CHA, so I’m ready to share some of my fun with you. I am sad to say that I didn’t take as many pictures as I thought I did. Apparently, my new reading glasses don’t take photos… oh, some day… This is going to be a long blog post, so I hope you stay with me until the end of it, and check back tomorrow for even more… In any event, let’s get started!
Coming from Chicagoland to supposedly sunny California, I was quite dismayed by the week’s forecast…
I mean, seriously! It was warmer at home on Friday than it was in Anaheim… c’mon, Cali!!! Luckily, I had brought layers with me, so it wasn’t too bad. But, next year, Anaheim, you need to do better than this!
It was quite a gorgeous view when the sun was shining and the snowy mountains in the background…
My exploration of Anaheim on my arrival day, I racked up quite a few steps, according to my Fitbit…
Nothing much to see, except the fabulous California landscape on travel day, but the first day of CHA was going to prove to be AWESOME! Day 1 is education day, so there are LOTS of seminars and workshops to get those creative juices flowing and make you think about your business.
I was lucky enough to begin my day with Mr. Tim Holtz… oh yes!!! But, first, I needed COFFEE!!! This is what Starbucks had for me at 5:45AM. Oh no, they don’t open until 6AM. What is that noise?! I have to wait until 6AM for my latte??!!
Alas, I overcame, and was able to get my latte and move on to…
I got to play with the NEW Distress Paint and make those fun (and easy) burlap boards. Here is Ms. Wendy Vecchi showing a larger version of the final product… isn’t she adorable?!
From this workshop, I spent a lot of time in classes on things like Pinterest, Design Teams, and Creating Online Videos, all of which you should benefit from in the coming months…
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, poor Latte is pouting that Momma is gone…
And my Fitbit said I needed to not sit so much today…
Don’t worry, Fitbit, I’ve got a LOT of steps for you to count tomorrow!
The day began with a GORGEOUS view from the 3rd floor of the convention center. You can’t get much better than this!
And then, we had a FUN Flash Mob, courtesy of Charity Wings… As soon as You Tube cooperates, I’ll post the link to the whole thing!
And then, it was time for the craziness to begin! The trade show floor opened today:
You can see TONS of folks lined up to swarm the floor. I was actually fairly close to the front of the line here; it was PACKED at the entrance! You can feel the anticipation, and it never fails to deliver!
My first stop was to meet Mr. Mark Montano and get an autographed copy of his NEW book!
Oh yeah, you read the title correctly! I also got to play with a NEW spray adhesive you can see in the background by Eclectic Adhesives. This stuff really works! And better yet, it cleans up VERY easily! This will be in the store once it’s available. Speaking of adhesive, Copic also has NEW adhesives, as well, but my reading glasses camera failed me here…
Next up, I went to meet Ms. Leeza Gibbons and get her inspirational book, but alas, the books did not arrive in time. I did manage to talk with her about some FUN new things, like her new scrapbook (shown below) and her new lines. She also gave me some advice on a hybrid Mixed Media kit that will be coming in March to the store.
Also at the Prima booth, I found some FUN new things for the store… these fun camera wood pieces will be a part of the first mixed media kit coming in March. The full set will also be available in the store separately, as soon as they become available the middle of next month.
This canvas album has a resist cover (not sure if you can see it in the photo) that I’m SUPER excited to play with! The album measures 5.5″x7.5″, which is a manageable size for me. It also will be available the middle of next month.
What else does Prima have, you ask??? How about a Coffee Cup shaped canvas album?!?!? The best part of this is that you can have it NOW!
More from the Prima booth tomorrow…
The Zig Marker booth had a fabulous mural that artists were coloring during the whole show. I meant to go back and get a final photo, but alas, the reading glasses camera didn’t come through again! But, you can probably color it in your own mind…
I played a LOT a the Canvas Corp booth. Canvas Corp now includes 7Gypsies and Tattered Angels, as well… talk about a FUN booth!!! There are some FUN things that will be coming to the store from this booth, to include file folders in 3 different sizes…
This is probably my favorite piece of artwork from the show:
The tissue used to make the heart will also be coming to the store shortly in two FUN prints – brocade and script! You can see another way to use it here in this tissue flower:
Here’s a fun way to use the Canvas Corp Flowers here (a couple more colors of these will be coming to the store VERY soon):
With all the walking I’d done, it was SO nice of my husband to send me a fabulous sports car to drive at night:
OH HOW I WISH!!!! That would’ve been a FUN car to drive… looks like I had my choice of white or black, too… dream….
Ok, back to reality… And what a FUN reality it was!
I took the FABULOUS Faber-Castell class to close out my day. I really think they should rename the company to Fabulous-Castell. I got to play with the NEW gelatos that will be used in the March mixed media kit. More on those tomorrow…
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Latte is getting even more upset at the lack of Momma…
And my Fitbit was a little more happy with me today…
I know I wouldn’t want to read anymore on a blog post, so I will stop here for today’s post. Check back tomorrow for even more fun!
